Practice Notes - 'Withness'
Mindful and Relational Practice - To Notice, Welcome, & Attune.
Practice Question:
When an opportunity occurs to face into a specific personal challenge, a practice question I can ask is: What is the true nature of my current experience; and what is my relationship with the experience when I apply the practice of ‘Withness’?
Contemplation:
When facing into a certain situation of being uncertain about a future event:
I Notice the physical contraction that sits in the pit of my stomach, it is tight and has a slight sick feeling to it.
I Welcome the feeling and the part of me that is anxious about the future. And literally say to it; ‘Welcome’.
I sit with it - and Attune - feel into it, feel with it - I express no desire to be rid of the sensation - I’m not driving towards a fix or a solution - I’m not trying to get rid of the feeling. Simply and solely, I am with it. There is no agenda. No time constraint.
As I Notice, Welcome and Attune to the true nature of my current experience, the relationship I have with the experience and its true nature, begin to align.
Alignment shows up in a variety of ways, such as ease, connection, spaciousness and often, relief.
Practically, it requires me to pause. To take a moment. To give focus to any strong sensation that is calling for my attention.
I’ve learnt to trust that the space in me that opens up, is the place from which solutions arise. Sometimes the connection itself is the solution.
Being with what is, brings, a sense of coming home; coming home to myself. It’s a good place to be.
